The Arduino turbidity sensor detects water quality by measuring turbidity levels. It can detect suspended particles in water by measuring the light transmittance and the scattering coefficient, which changes with the amount of total suspended solids (TTS) in the water. As the TTS increases, the turbidity of the liquid increases. For more information on our liquid sensor series, you can also check out our Liquid Sensor Selection Guide.

This Arduino turbidity sensor has both analogue and digital signal output modes. The mode can be selected depending on the MCU, as the threshold is adjustable in digital signal mode.

Turbidity sensors can be used to measure water quality in rivers and streams, to measure wastewater and sewage, for sediment transport studies and for laboratory measurements.
