Description of SparkFun micro:climate kit para micro:bit - v3.0 kit climático:

The SparkFun micro:Climate kit is a complete weather station kit that builds on the weather:bit carrier board with weather and soil moisture sensors, all powered by the micro:bit. board.

Unlike previous weather kits we have carried, this micro:climate kit is Qwiic enabled and includes our tried and true weather meters and soil moisture sensor, so whether you are a farmer, a professional meteorologist or a hobbyist, you will be able to build a high quality weather station powered by micro:bit. You can even talk via wireless communication between two micro:bits with this kit so you can monitor the weather without being exposed to it!

NOTE: Micro:bit board not included

Inside each micro:climatee kit you will find all the components needed to make your micro:bit into a reference weather sensor; the only parts not included are two AAA batteries, a microSD card and the micro:bit itself.

It is the ideal weather station for schools, farmers, ranchers and weather enthusiasts.

Simply connect your own micro:bit to the supplied weather:bit, assemble the kit and you're ready to start detecting. The SparkFun micro:Climate kit is a great way to get your feet wet with high quality sensors, but not literally; that's the job of the station!

The kit requires no soldering and is recommended for anyone curious about weather sensing technology or the micro:bit platform.

Weather Meter

This kit represents the three basic components of weather measurement: wind speed, wind direction and rainfall.

None of the sensors in this kit contain active electronics; instead, they use sealed magnetic reed switches and magnets, so you must generate a voltage to take measurements. On the positive side, the sensors are easy to interpret.

The rain gauge is a self-emptying bucket type rain gauge that activates a momentary shut-off button for every 0.011" of rain that is collected. The anemometer (wind speed meter) encodes wind speed by simply closing a switch on each rotation. A wind speed of 1.492 MPH produces a switch closure once per second. Finally, the wind vane reports the wind direction as a voltage that is produced by the combination of resistors inside the sensor. The weathervane magnet could close two switches at once, allowing up to 16 different positions to be indicated, but we have found 8 positions to be more realistic.
