Arduino, Raspberry or Micro:bit are the most known microcomputers (microcontroller boards), but definitely do not exhaust the whole set of available development boards. There is a range of projects across all levels of advancement that make a bid at creating their own community and developing popularity all around the world. Boards like Orange Pi, Banana Pi are just some of the examples. On the other hand, there are as well significantly more advanced more computers, such as DSP or Google Coral and Nvidia Jetson to speak about more recent inventions. It doesn't matter whether you look for developing simple educational projects or going more into advanced IoT, Artificial Intelligence solution, there definitely is a board for you. In this category, we present boards and accessories for boards that haven't yet reached popularity such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi, but still offer interesting project possibilities sometimes complementing the most known boards.

What to take into consideration when selecting a development board to begin with?

Raspberry Pi or Orange Pi? Maybe Orange or Banana? Variety is blessing in disguise, as it can bring more confusion than benefits. There are several approaches to selecting the development board, but the one we are the most bound to is to look at the availability of materials first. This goes hand in hand with popularity of the board or system you want to play with. And as such Arduino (and Arduino compatible) boards are one of the best covered in the Internet, similarly to Raspberry. Obviously, original parts and components always come better equipped as you will have libraries developed by the producer together with guides and tutorials, which make life significantly easier. However, if you want to charter into new territories some of the less popular boards can have a lot to offer. Just be sure that you are aware of where to find materials and how reliable they are before delving into the gadget. For more detailed comparisons between the boards please visit our blog.

Advanced functional boards

Obviously, the answer to the above question changes slightly, when you are a most advanced programmer and look to extend you possibilities to more complex system. Then ready made library availability might not be of such an essence given ability to adjust the code and high performance boards would be probably the best choice for you. We can source them for you as well if you can't find them in our current offering.
